Boulder River Report 05/28/18

As with the Stillwater, flows on the Boulder were running big and off color. It’s going to continue to fluctuate in reaction to rain and temperature patterns. The forks will kick in off color water, so flows will be clearer, but swift and high, up above Natural Bridge. Nymphing along the edges is probably the best bet with a rubber leg nymph pattern like a girdle bug or Pat’s rubber legs in black, brown or coffee color along with a beadhead trailer fly like a prince nymph, hare’s ear, batman or pheasant tail. Also try basic buggers in black and olive or the Grinch for streamers. We still have a ways to go in runoff, so expect continued high flows and fluctuations.
