[ARCHIVE] Stillwater River Report 7/10/2017
After a spike from the heat wave, flows are dropping and clarity has improved. The Stillwater has really turned on, particularly the upper river.
Fish are looking up and hitting the big dry fly like a chubby, jack cabe, stimulator, or PMX. Dropper nymphs like a prince, red copper john, hare’s ear, or beadhead flashback pheasant tail set up on a long dropper are consistently taking fish as well. PMDs are coming off sporadically in the early afternoon and fish are hitting the small dry then. The streamer bite has been excellent too using the Grinch or a black or olive bugger.
The flows are still up, so use caution when wade fishing.
