[ARCHIVE] Yellowstone River Report 07/30/18
Flows have continued to drop and the water warm up. Start looking to get out early on the bright and sunny days as fish will be skittish about coming up to the dry fly. Dead drifting buggers or other streamer patterns along with a stonefly pattern or a big rubber leg like a girdle bug is a good option or fish a batman or prince nymph. There may be some action on the big dry like a Chubby in some of the smaller side channels or skinny water. There are lots of hoppers out in the fields along the river, so don’t hesitate to start throwing hopper patterns like a Yellowstoner Chubby or Fat Frank. If float fishing, note that the road at the Indian Fort FAS at Reed Point is closed.
