[ARCHIVE] Yellowstone River Report 7/31/2017

The Yellowstone was a little off color from rain events in the park but it is clearing. While still not quite optimal in clarity, it is definitely fishable. Dark colored

Dark colored buggers, as well as the Grinch dead, drifted under an indicator has been a good producer. Rubber leg nymphs like a girdle bug drifted along the bank water and riffles have been working too. Fish it on a long dropper off of a big dry like a Chubby Chernobyl. As it starts to come around, look to fish the big dry and dropper nymph. Start throwing hopper and large dry fly patterns like Chubby Chernobyls, Jack Cabe, PMXs, Yeti Hoppers and Yellowstoner Chubbys in the afternoon. If getting out early to beat the heat, try throwing streamers early.
